The County of Two Hills has issued a Fire Ban, in effect April 27, 2023 at 08:00 a.m. until further notice.
Under the Fire Ban, all active fire/burn permits are cancelled, and no new permits will be issued until a significant amount of precipitation is received. Burning of any kind is prohibited, including recreational fires (campfires, backyard fire pits and outdoor fireplaces), burning in a burn barrel or incinerator, charcoal briquette BBQs, yard debris, etc. Fireworks and exploding targets are also prohibited.
Propane or natural gas appliances (i.e., barbeques, stoves, heaters and portable firepits), for the purpose of heating or cooking are allowed, but must be CSA approved or UL certified.
Burning or lighting a fire during a Fire Ban is illegal, and fines or cost of response could apply. A person who willfully sets an open fire, or any fire not allowed under this order, may be charged under the Forest and Prairie Protection Act. If the person is the owner or occupant of the land on which the fire is set, those costs may be recovered by placing the costs on the tax roll and recovering them in the same manner as taxes.
